FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
RIVERHEAD, NEW YORK, APRIL 13 – Executive Director Mildred Ehrenfeld has been nominated for the 2026 New York State Woman of Distinction Award by the office of Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio. This recognition celebrates Mildred’s outstanding contributions, leadership, and dedication to our community. This is Mildred’s second time being nominated for this award.
Over the course of her career, Mildred has been a trailblazing force for improved access to health care – helping low, middle-income, and minority families take charge of their health and well-being. Through her organization, The Bridge Improving Access to Health Care, Mildred is responding to new challenges in health care. Reduced funding for programs like Medicare/Medicaid has placed additional strain on both patients and providers – making it harder for our neighbors to access basic health care. In her capacity as Executive Director, Mildred leads a team committed to ensuring that these services remain in reach for everyday Long Islanders.
Mildred’s nomination serves as a testament to her life’s work and her commitment to the well-being of our community. The organization hopes that this special recognition will shed light on the state of health care and inspire more of our neighbors to take action.
Mildred is expected to attend a celebratory brunch alongside her fellow nominees in May.
